Puppy Socialisation

Small Group sessions for puppies from 12-20 weeks
(age is a guide only, and will depend on a number of factors)

Puppy playgroup activity sessions

(Sunday mornings, must be booked in advance)

Small highly interactive group sessions to develop all your puppy’s senses (sight, scent, socialisation, behaviour, touch, sound) . . Also providing support for new puppy owners.

We recommend the playgroup as the entry point for your pup. It is suitable for pups from vaccination to 20 weeks (and beyond if appropriate, dependant on breed).

Once your pup is approx 16 to 20 weeks (depending on breed and confidence) they may transition into the Nursery. They will be assessed during their first visit and a comprehensive transition plan for day care will be agreed with you.

Puppy socialisation is a vital part of development for your new puppy.

Socialising with other puppies, and adult dogs show your puppy how to interact, the rules of engagement, and will help them to be confident in meeting and playing with other dogs.

Habituation is about exposure to environmental stimuli. We use both audio tools for this, and real-life ‘staged’ exposure.

This is important to ensure that your puppy is exposed to sounds and experiences that they will come across as they grow, and enable them to meet that challenge with confidence, not be timid or frightened, or worse, to feel stressed by new experiences.

We are able to control these interactions to enable your puppy to embrace them at an individual pace. Spending more time on some aspects and less on others, dependant upon their reaction.

These sessions at our doggy day care Liverpool, are either individual or in very small groups. Once puppies join the main daycare, we continue this development and incorporate basic training.

One of the main reasons that dogs are given to rescue centres as teenagers, is that they have become ‘unmanageable’. This is a preventable situation.

Dogs want to learn, they actively enjoy it. Owners want to have a dog that will do as they want it to and be a pleasure to have in their lives.

This doesn’t happen without an element of hard work from both owner and dog. Here at precious paws premium doggy day care in Liverpool, we will start your dog on their journey of learning and support you to continue it at home and beyond.

Basic training also provides an element of safety for your dog, effective recall in a situation of potential risk is essential, we can provide support for you to effectively recall your dog.

Should you require more enhanced training we have links with very experienced and skilled trainers & behaviourists across Merseyside, to whom we can refer you.
